Timeless Portrait Rag Bag Purse

I have finally completed my first rag bag purse using Timeless Portrait designer fabric.The bag was easy to assemble using the scallop square die and the big shot to cut out the squares, it just took me awhile to find the time to sew it. I just retrieved the bag from the dryer so it has that unironed look about it. The handles are striped grosgrain ribbon in black and I also made the flower with my big shot. I made a booboo with the pattern, but who cares when you are going for the hippie look!

The first card is one that I cased from Connie Tumm. The next two are variations of how you can get more use out of your stamp sets.At first glance you would think that this set could only be used for fall cards, however with a change of colour and sentiment it can transform the card into one that can be used for many occasions.

Back to reality after a fabulous trip home to NZ. The great thing is it is Sale-A-Bration time, my favourite SU time of year because we can earn lots of free goodies. So I intend to pour all my misery of leaving the sun for the snow back into some paper crafting and retail therapy.

Wedding Set and Birthday Set

My Mum asked me to make a card for a couple that are getting married and a purse and card for her boss' birthday. Obviously when I heard wedding I immediately thought of the medallion stamp. I have been wanting to use a gray/yellow combination for awhile now so went with this scheme for both projects. Easy and just goes to show that you don't need alot of product to make a classy gift.
Inspiration for these projects came from several places and at the time of this post their names are not coming to me. I do know that the concertina fan came from one of the online classes at crafters anonymous.
The Wedding set includes the fan which is embossed and a mini photo album.

Technique Thursday Cards

These are the cards that I made for Technique Thursday over on Crafters Anonymous. The technique is called 3D stamping because you stamp the image in white first.
I really wanted to make this card, not only for the technique but I loved how Anne Brignall did the oval sponging behind her stamped image so I needed to give it a go.
This is also a sneak peek at whats to come from the new holiday mini that debuts on Sept 1st. Do you not love the marina mist binding tape ribbon on the 2nd card? This has to be my new favourite ribbon.

Welcome to the SUDSOL Blog Tour. SUDSOL(Simply Unique Demonstrators Sharing OnLine)is a group where demonstrators share inspiration and ideas to help Stampin Up demonstrators improve their business. I have already benefited through the sharing of ideas.

This project actually started with the mini book...scroll way down... that was designed by Debi Ryan over at Crafter's Anonymous. I decided to use one of the new stamps out of the 2011-2012 catalogue "Need for Speed", another great masculine stamp set. I really like making male cards and projects because they really don't care if things are perfect and a little grungy. The inside of the book folds out and you could decorate both sides with small photos, I left the back of the fold out piece undecorated till I decide what I am going to do with it. If you stamp a little more randomly you can add the photos right over the top instead but I wasn't thinking ahead at the time.
I have used some of my son's favourite sayings that really don't make any sense to anyone born in my generation or older to decorate the 4 cards-of course he loves them and I just left them blank because I am not sure what occasion they will be used for.
Other stamp sets used are extreme elements for the grunge look and perfect alphabet for the sayings. Card stock basic grey, black and whisper white. The ink is crumb cake, early expresson, black, river rock.

SUDSOL Blog Tour - May 17, 2011 - CHECK IT OUT!

Welcome to my first blog tour ever! SUDSOL(Simply Unique Demonstrators Sharing OnLine)is a group where demonstrators share inspiration and ideas to help Stampin Up demonstrators improve their business. I have already benefited through the sharing of ideas.

The three projects I have decided to showcase are new products from the Summer Mini Catalogue that made its debut on May 1st. The Nautical Expedition Suite is a classy group of products perfect for those hard to make Male cards and projects. In all three projects I used the Nautical expedition DSP #122343-this paper is complemented by cardstock in Cherry Cobbler, Not Quite Navy and Early Expresso. The stamp set is The Open Sea #123032 for the clear mount set and my next favourite new product is the Bakers Twine in Cherry Cobbler/White #123125. ANZAC Day

This morning I attended the ANZAC Day ceremony at the Wolsley Barracks here in London. It was an at dawn ceremony which meant it started at 5.45am. Mike and the kids made it out of bed to join me today for the ceremony and then breakfast. I couldn't resist taking a lamington for my morning tea-a little bit too early for breakfast although a few of the men were drinking VB for breakfast and enjoying gunshot coffee! Then it was off to work for me and home for a nap for Mike and the kids. Happy Birthday Cameron!

Instructions

Flower Pot

Cut leaves from Always Artichoke Textured Card Stock using Big Shot and Island Floral Bigz Die. Stamp flourish image in Always Artichoke ink on several leaves. Score center of leaves using Bone Folder. Adhere layers of leaves to flower pot using Sticky Strip.

Crimp strips of Crumb Cake Card Stock and Soft Suede Textured Card Stock using Crimper. Place strips inside pot.

Add floral wire to create handle. Tie Peach Parfait 1/2" Stitched-Poly Ribbon around wire.

Large Flower

Cut flower from Peach Parfait Textured Card Stock using Fun Flowers Bigz L Die.

Emboss Whisper White Textured Card Stock using the Perfect Polka Dots Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. Cut one flower from embossed Whisper White Textured Card Stock using the Fun Flowers Bigz L Die. Cut one flower from non embossed Whisper White Textured Card Stock. Adhere flowers together using Stampin' Dimensionals.

Layer Peach Parfait flower in center of Whisper White flower using Stampin' Dimensionals.

Criss-cross crochet thread through holes in Daffodil Delight button; adhere to center of flower.

Cut length of floral wire for desired flower height; adhere between layers of Whisper White flower.

Medium Flower

Emboss Peach Parfait Textured Card Stock using the Square Lattice Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. Cut flower from embossed card stock using the Fun Flowers Bigz L Die.

Punch circle from Baja Breeze Textured Card Stock; curl and pull edges of circle apart for layered look; adhere to center of flower using Stampin' Dimensionals.

Punch 1-3/4" Circle from So Saffron Textured Card Stock; spiral cut; roll spiral tight and adhere end. Layer over Baja Breeze circle to center of flower using Stampin' Dimensionals.

Cut length of floral wire for desired flower height; adhere to back of Peach Parfait flower.

Small Flower

Punch two flowers from So Saffron Textured Card Stock using the 5-Petal Flower Punch. Punch 1/2" Circle in center of one flower. (The flower with the circle punched from the center will be the front and the other one will be the back.)

Cut strip of Peach Parfait Textured Card Stock (3" x 3/4"). Score lengthwise at 1/4". Make cuts at 1/4" intervals up to score line. (This creates a base you use to adhere to the flower.) Wrap and adhere into circle to fit through 1/2" hole; trim ends; adhere base to back flower.

Punch 1/2" Circle from Peach Parfait Card Stock; adhere to center of Peach Parfait flower center. Tie strip of crochet thread through Bitty Button holes; Layer Bitty Button to center of Peach Parfait flower center. Clip edges of top to make frayed edges.

Layer So Saffron top flower with the punched center over back flower, making sure Peach Parfait center shows through. Adhere and curl petals.

Cut length of floral wire for desired flower height; adhere between layers of So Saffron flower.

This is what we made at my February monthly stamp class. The ideas for these items did come from some talented crafters and at this time I can't remember who they are, but thank-you. Of course the colours and paper choices were mine. This class was meant to showcase the new cupcake punch and stamp set in the new mini.

Yes I know Valentines Day is way gone, but I make all these things and never get close enough to my husbands computer to put them on my blog. Yes, I need a better system. Anyway the treat bags came from Michaels with SU tags added. The cupcake hearts I used last years fab design paper that I had left over. These are so easy to make and really make the cupcakes that much more special.

These sweet little milk cartons and carrier I made one each for the ladies at work and filled them with chockies.

This card was actually made by my very talented daughter. Don't you love how she rolled the CS to make the flower? Obviously not going to fit in an envelope but very cute.

This poor photo quality card was what I made for my DH. I used the freebie rub-ons that I got from SU and a variety of coordinating products. The faux button on the ribbon is the new embosslits button die. Very cute.

Kia Kaha Christchurch

New Zealand is now experiencing one of the worst disasters in NZ history as another earthquake hit Christchurch over the weekend. The deaths are still rising and people are still being removed from collapsed buildings, as you can imagine the city and country are in a state of shock as everyone scrambles to make sense of the devastation and loss of lives. I have cousins that live in Christchurch that thankfully are ok, family are trying to get them to Auckland. Amazingly a Dr. friend of mine from Canada was in the Cathedral taken photos hours before its collapse and was there when the earthquake hit too-he is on a cruise ship so was able to make it further North to Napier.

I have been thinking about how I can help out from Canada-Delys Cram from Little Scraps of Paper has come up with the perfect idea to show support. She has posted the address for Victim Services and will be sending blank cards with envelopes to be distributed to individuals and families as needed.

Victim Support are a group afiliated with the NZ police force and are trained in dealing everyday with adversity, helping and supporting people in need.

We thought they would appreciate some cards that they could write on and to take to victims of this devasting quake.

Valentine Class

Well my Valentine class has come and gone. Unfortunately it was not held in my new studio, but I am beginning to wonder whether I would have been able to fit everyone in the room. Anyhow here are some examples of uses for the Artistic Etchings stamp set and the Notably Ornate stamp set. I find that with a full time job and kids activities every night of the week, it is easier and faster for me to use other stampers creative genius, so some of the cards are cased with my own spin on them. When the kids leave home and/or I have more time to myself I expect I will be able to come up with more of my own ideas. In the meantime my ladies seem to enjoy what I throw together in the classes I run.

Today I started work on my Stamp and Scrap Studio. It is a room in our basement that is in big need of a clean out and reorganization. So, today with the help of my daughter Kiara we started on the clean up, washed the floors, cleaned the cat poop and moved arond boxes etc. Now we need dh to sort through his junk and find a new home for his airplanes. I have a class booked for January 23rd and would like to host it in a new room, so fingers crossed.

Happy New Year and with the new year I am booking a valentine class on Sunday January 23rd at my house from 2-4pm. We are going to make 3 cards using the Artistic Etchings stamp set and a black, red and white colour theme-a little different from the traditional valentines card, because lets face it how many adults send out valentine cards???? The cost is my usual $15. So, if you would like to take a trip to Paris and make some cards let me know.

So, these are the gifts that the kids gave their teachers this year. They made the ornaments using dazzling diamond glitter and reinkers.I made the boxes using my cricut cupcake box. The christmas cracker is a SU big shot die though and I have already used it several times. The DS paper is a variety of this years Christmas selections, Jolly Holiday being my favourite paper this year.

This is one of two birthday cards that I made for friends that are celebrating this month and who I usually forget about because their birthdays are so close to Christmas. The stamp set is actually a level 1 hostess set from the catalogue. I used my colour coach to pick the colours, I find that you can really overdo the colours when colouring in and it makes for a messy scheme.

My gifts this year will have these tags attached. I did cut the tags using my cricut but each were embossed with the petals a plenty embossing folder and my big shot. The stamp is a retired Christmas tag set, however I was able to use the delightful decorations stamp and punch again this year. The colours are of course my favourite cherry cobbler and I found the background wrapping paper this year to coordinate.

I decided to try something a little different this year from our regular calendar. The kids seem to be enjoying it this year although it is difficult to fit two of one item in each box so I would stick with lollies. The boxes are in the holiday mini and come complete with ribbon, pegs, and rope-they are very easy to decorate in a matter of minutes.

I know I have been missing in action for a few weeks now but with good reason. I started a new job just after my birthday in June, I was organizing the grade 8 grad decorations at the kids school etc.etc. I have been making cards though and will post ASAP. Last Monday I held a small class, we made a card using the baby wipe technique, a card using the colour spritzer tool and a scratch and sniff card. I will post these this weekend.

Colour Renovation Announcement

Stampin Up announced yesterday that there will be new colours introduced in the July catalogue. The new colour families are Brights, Subtles, Regals and Neutrals, there will be 40 core colours and 10 new In Colours. Now is the time to stock up on any of the colours that you can't bear to live without. I am excited to try out the new colours and I am glad that a few of the retired In Colours such as Pacific Point and Baja Breeze are returning. Kraft will soon be renamed Crumb Cake and will come in a ink pad and marker too.

My bunny is alot different mainly because I didn't have the punches that they used so I had to improvise. I think the bunny is a little Alice in Wonderland ish?

Flowers using your punches

I just learnt how to make this adorable rose from yet another talented SU designer, where do these people come up with these ideas?? This rose is made using the ornament punch, whisper white cardstock, pretty in pink ink and some sticky strip.

The second flower is made using the scallop punch, scrunching each scallop into a ball and layering. I sprayed mine with water afterwards and added a brad. These look great on bookmarks, cards you are not going to mail and gifts.

Watercolouring Class

The rose cards were done using the watercolour brush and ink. The rose was embossed with black. The giraffe card used watercolour pencils and a blender pen and the country morning used the watercolour crayons and a blender pen.

As promised this is the February page from the digital calendar that I made for my Nana for xmas. The image on the calendar is opaque so you can see through it-its a great effect to add something extra to an otherwise boring page. I don't know why but I always seem to be adding multiple image to share on one day-I need to get better on posting a little more regularly???

A kids birthday card

This card was made using the Big Bold Birthday stamp set which is unfortunately retired. The paper is non-SU but the remainder of the products are. I love the sparkle that the dazzling diamonds glitter added to the cupcake.

This card was made for my sister in law's birthday. I used the background stamp En Francais and the Fifth Avenue Floral set. The butterfly embossilit and the border punch are from the new spring catalogue. It is difficult to tell from this poor photo but I did emboss the large flower with iridescent ice emboos powder for some sparkle.I cased this idea from a stamping magazine because I liked the monochromatic colours-I think they worked with a little sponging around the edges. This card could also be used for a wedding.

I made this set of cards as a teacher gift this year. They do not match the box because I wanted them to be used for other occasions, not xmas. I also included some treats inside the box.The stamp set is Animal Crackers.

This is the briefcase box, the ribbon slides off or you can undo it and it opens from the bottom. I also stamped an image on the tag in the pocket.

Christmas Treats and Santa Cards

These treats were easy to make and an inexpensive treat to share with friends or co-workers at xmas. I cased the idea from Inking in Idaho. These are made by adding punched out scalloped circles onto DSP Merry Moments and 2 different sizes of circle punches. I stamped Merry Christmas using a stamp from the Delightful Decorations set. The treats are peppermint patties that you can buy in bulk from the Bulk Barn. They are packaged in Pretzel Bags and tied of with some SU ribbon and another stamp from the Delightful Decorations.

These are my favourite cards, each card has a little cellophane bag filled with kisses attached to the back. I used the scallop circle punch for the beard. This idea was cased from Little Scraps of Paper (see NZ blog list). The inking with sponges has to be my favourite technique for bringing punch art to life.

Girls Christmas Card Class

These are two of the cards that the girls made on Wednesday night. The snowflake on this card was embossed with iridescent ice emboss powder, my new favourite.

This card was inspired by Andrea Walford. The poinsettia is 3 of the 5 petal flower punch and of course the red embossed background is the petals a plenty embossing folder.

Halloween popcorn packet

In this project I started with doing a watercolour wash using Dusty Durango reinker, because I only had one shade of orange I just added more water to the paper to get the different shades of colour. It is important to use SU watercolour paper for this technique as it is alot thicker and able to handle the saturation. Once dry I stamped the image using versamark and embossed with black embossing powder. I then cut out the image and adhered to black cardstock.

Christmas Card Class

Last night I hosted a Christmas Card Class, each attendee went home with 4 cards. The first card I cased from Anne Grainger.I love the colours of blue, it makes the card very fresh looking. The petals of plenty embossing folder is showcased on this card.

The second card I found inspiration again from Anne Grainger and her choice of unexpected colours. The stamp set used in these cards is the tree trimmings set.

The third card was demonstrated in the holiday mini page 24 and showcases the Delightful Decorations stamp set.

The final card was cased from Andra Walford. The stamp set used was from the Patterned Pines level 1 hostess set. This has to be my favourite set, I love the paisley on the trees.

Patterned Pines Hostess Set

I made these cards using a the Patterned Pines set from the mini-catalogue, I love these little trees and the snowflake. Unfortunately it doesn't come with a greeting stamp so I had to borrow one from another manufacturer. I used papers from the Simply Scrappin Kit -Christmas Jingle. The snowflake card has a circle that is raised using dimensionals.

This is the scrapbook page that I designed using the Simply Scrappin-Christmas Jingle kit. I embossed the lettering first with the Petals a Plenty embossing folder then cut them out using a stencil. I really like the quality of this kit and the amount of supplies is value for money.

Happy Bearthday

I finally rec'd my Build a Bear order yesterday and this is my first card using both stamp sets and the designer paper. The cardstock is from the soft subtles colour family which goes perfect with the Build a Bear collection. I used SU watercolour pencils and the blender pens to colour the bear. The kids and I practiced colouring the bears last night in a variety of colours and I have worked out that less colour works better than a heavy hand.

Digital Studio

I am excited to try out the new Stampin Up digital software. The cost of the program is $106 to download onto 2 computers in a household. If you download it onto a laptop, what a great way to document your travel photos while on vacation-how many times do you get home and can't remember where you took that photo? Stampin Up is always offering a printing service, so you can design a 22 page album and have it professionally printed and sent to you in 1-2 weeks. An album like this would be a great Christmas present to showcase those digital photos of the kids that never make it off the computer and in the hands of grandparents.
While I am still a lover of all things paper, I can't wait to get my hands on this program to start creating.

This is a card that I made for the Monthly demonstrator challenge at Splitcoast. We had to choose a consonant and use only card stock, paper and stamps that started with that letter. Very hard when you have limited supplies but worth the effort to show that you can still make a nice card with a little more creativity.
I used only crushed curry cardstock, the Country Morning level 1 hostess set and crushed curry ink. You were allowed to choose a neutral colour so I used watercolour paper even though I did use markers to colour the image. I think it looks kind of rustic with the distressing and inking.

The spooky tree and owl are all one stamp from the House of Haunts SU set. The lace I have had for ages and have been waiting for a project to use it on. I like the simplicity of this card.
